About Obenewaa
As a German national born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, I am a native speaker with over ten years of teaching experience at various institutions. I earned my master’s degree in German from the University of Alabama and have taught at The Ohio State University, Arizona State University, and the University of Arizona. I began my doctoral studies in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at The Ohio State University but ultimately received my PhD in International Letters and Cultures. Nonetheless, my research and teaching remain focused on German studies.
Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses on German language, literature, and culture, both online and in-person. This aligns with my current role as an Assistant Professor of German.

I strive to eliminate barriers to participation and emphasize the importance of valuing students as individuals. To achieve this, I adjust the class structure and room layout to facilitate meaningful communication tailored to student needs and class size. My goal is to create an inclusive and comfortable classroom atmosphere for all students. Thus, I cater to different learner types by using a multitude of media, such as texts, videos, visual art, music, and poetry, and provide various ways for reflexivity.
