About Sofia
Hi, I'm Sofia and I am a passionate, approachable tutor with a strong academic background and a genuine enthusiasm for helping students grow in confidence and ability. I hold a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Biology from Newcastle University and am a native Spanish speaker, offering support to students looking to improve their Spanish skills. In school, I ran help clinics and tutored younger students, which gave me experience explaining ideas clearly and making learning enjoyable. I am patient, approachable, and adapt my lessons in accordance with each student's needs and learning style. I tailor each of my tutoring sessions to each student's individual goals, strengths, and learning style. I offer an interactive and supportive approach using a combination of structured exercises and guided practice to help students build both confidence and understanding. For language learners, I also focus on improving conversational fluency and cultural context, not just grammar. Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are flexible depending on the student's needs and attention span. I have previous experience tutoring in SATs and 11+ exams, and have also led Biology help clinics for younger peers. I have taught students ranging from all ages and have experience teaching music to beginners. Whether you're preparing for exams or simply looking to improve your skills for everyday use or travel, I aim to make lessons clear, encouraging, and goal-oriented.
