About Adélaïde
I am a dedicated fully qualified native teacher of French able to deliver high quality lessons from Key Stage 3 to key stage 5. I have now 4 years of experience as a French Teacher. During my baccalaureate in humanities and languages during I started to tutor secondary school pupils. I continued while doing my joint honour degree in languages. I worked as a French teacher in an international linguistic summer school and I was a full-time French Language Assistant in a College (A-level and IB). Finally, I successfully obtained a PGCE in French at the University of Oxford and gained more experience teaching GCSE / IGCSE and A-level / IB classes.

First, I always need to gain a good insight into pupils’ strengths and weakness in order to quickly address all the issues preventing them to progress (grammar, vocabulary, syntax, spelling, speaking, writing...). Then I designe engaging, student-centred lessons that broaden their horizons and raise their curiosity. I prioritise the use of culturally rich, authentic materials and at a planning stage, I draw on a wide range of effective second language acquisition theories to maximize pupils’ progress.
I believe that we develop pupils’ proficiency by consistently exploiting their previous knowledge and enabling them to use the language creatively. It is crucial for me to enable my pupils gain a better understanding of how the language works (how to build a sentence and how to play with tenses).
In my lessons I increase pupils' fluency by focusing on high frequency words, extensive receptive activities fully in French along with high quality output demand (when the pupil himself produces something).

Adélaïde helped me so much in french! I contacted her a few month before my IB exam and we worked very hard on my grammar and speaking. But what was nice is that she also taught me a lot about the french culture and traditions which was very interesting and helpful for the oral. She always tried to make the grammar less dry by putting it in context (french movies, actors, current affairs...). Thanks to her I got a 7 (I was predicted a 6).
