Hello! I’m a native Mandarin speaker passionate about helping students achieve confidence and fluency in Mandarin. My lessons are designed to help you master clear pronunciation, improve your speaking delivery, and develop a strong understanding of Mandarin through a cultural lens. I believe language learning is most effective when it’s both practical and immersive, so I incorporate real-life dialogues and cultural anecdotes into our sessions to make concepts memorable and enjoyable. I can also work on identifying right TV shows or movies that you are interested in to help you learn Mandarin in a more fun and natural way.
Each lesson is structured around your personal goals. We'll work on conversational fluency, including correct pronunciation, while also addressing grammar and listening comprehension. I also draw on my understanding of both Mandarin and English to clarify language nuances, making it easier for you to understand the unique aspects of Mandarin.
Whether you’re preparing for exams like the HSK or just starting out, I’m here to support your journey. I’ll answer all your questions, give constructive feedback, and guide you every step of the way. Let’s build a strong foundation together and make Mandarin an exciting language to learn!

Perfect! Highly recommend Carissa, she is a knowledgable and emphathetic tutor that has extensive knowledge of Chinese. It was a great fit for me as a more intermediate / advanced learner of chinese and wanting to expand my mandarin vocabulary. However, I believe she would be equally excellent for beginner students as well.
Perfect! Carissa was a great tutor. I worked with her over several months. Before Carissa I had zero experience with learning Chinese but with her help I was able to surprise my fiancee by doing my vows in Chinese. I would highly recommend her for anyone seeking Chinese tutoring.
