About Crunchy
Hi, I’m Crunchy! I’ve always been fascinated by languages, cultures and the way people communicate. Having learnt English as a second language and now living in the UK, I know how rewarding it feels when you can finally express yourself naturally in another language.
I love meeting people from different backgrounds, and teaching Chinese gives me the chance to share my language and culture while helping others communicate with confidence. I’m friendly, patient and encouraging, and I want my lessons to feel like a comfortable place to talk, explore and enjoy learning Chinese — not just another class!

-My teaching approach: I believe the best way to learn Chinese is to use it, not just memorise it. My lessons are interactive, relaxed and conversation-focused, with plenty of encouragement to speak — mistakes are always welcome!
-What we’ll practise: I use real-life conversations, role-plays, pronunciation practice, games and personalised topics to make Chinese practical and enjoyable. Lessons can focus on everyday Mandarin, speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary or specific goals.
-Lesson length: Typically 45–60 minutes, depending on your level, age and learning goals.
-My experience: I’m a native Mandarin speaker with two years of language teaching experience and 200+ teaching hours in IELTS speaking and listening. I have a degree in English Education and a Master’s from the University of Warwick, so I can explain Chinese clearly in English when needed.
-Who I teach: From complete beginners learning their first “nǐ hǎo” to learners wanting more confident, natural conversations. Lessons can be adapted for both children and adults.
-Online & in person: Available online or face-to-face in Southampton.
