About Imma
Ciao! I'm Imma, originally from beautiful Puglia, in southern Italy. I have been living in England for the past 24 years, first in London and, for the last four years, in the stunning county of Kent.
I also spent two years of my life in Hong Kong, where I had the wonderful opportunity to teach Italian to both senior professionals and young children. Teaching people from such different backgrounds taught me how important it is to adapt each lesson to the individual student, their personality, their goals and the way they learn best.
Although I have lived away from Italy for many years and consider myself a little bit of a citizen of the world, I remain deeply connected to my Italian roots. Italy, its language, culture, food, traditions and, of course, its wonderful way of life have always been an important part of who I am.
I have always loved travelling and discovering new places, cultures and ways of life. Living in London, spending time in Hong Kong and travelling around the world have given me a genuinely international outlook and a fascination for different cultures and people. I believe this also influences the way I teach — I'm curious, open-minded and enjoy finding ways to connect with people from different backgrounds.
Professionally, I have spent many years working in London within the fast-paced world of television and international broadcasting, including roles with Warner Bros. Discovery, MTV and Virgin Media. I have always enjoyed working in demanding, international environments and meeting people from different cultures.
Alongside my career in television, however, I have always continued to teach Italian — not simply as a job, but because I genuinely love the Italian language and culture. Teaching Italian has also been a wonderful way for me to stay connected to my roots and share a little piece of Italy with people who are interested in discovering it.
I now feel that the time is right for a new chapter in my career. I have embarked on a career change and want to make teaching Italian my full-time profession.
My approach to teaching
I believe learning a language should be enjoyable, practical and personal. Whether you are learning Italian for a holiday, for work, to connect with family, to help your children learn the language, or simply because you have always dreamed of speaking Italian, I will tailor our lessons to your needs.
I'm particularly passionate about helping students gain confidence in speaking and learning the Italian that people actually use in everyday life — not just what you find in a textbook!
And don't worry about making mistakes. Making mistakes is part of learning, and my lessons are designed to be relaxed, friendly and encouraging.
Whether you're taking your first steps in Italian or looking to take your existing skills to the next level, I'd love to help you discover — or rediscover — the beauty of the Italian language.

Whether you're a complete beginner, already know some Italian, or simply want to become more confident speaking, I can help you achieve your goals.
Having taught Italian in both Hong Kong and London, I have experience working with students from different backgrounds and adapting lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities. I have taught senior professionals as well as young children.
I have a degree in Sociology from Rome and a Master's degree in Media Studies from London, giving me an international academic and professional background as well as extensive experience working with people from different cultures.
I have taught Italian to young children as well as senior professionals working across various industries, so I'm comfortable adapting my lessons to different ages, abilities, personalities and learning objectives.
My lessons are friendly, relaxed and personalised. I believe that learning a language should be enjoyable, practical and focused on building confidence, particularly when it comes to speaking.
