About Vannessa
I am a 40 years old Language Student from Germany living in the UK for over 15 years now. I studied English, German and Educational Studies at the University of Trier, Germany for 5 years. I moved to the UK as part of my studies and decided to stay in the UK. I am a self-employed language tutor and translator and proofreader. I am available for extra tutoring any day of the week, including Saturdays. I gained my first teaching experience at the age of 15 during a work placement at a primary school. I continued my tutoring both on a private level and group level during the next 10 years. This involved teaching German, English (as well as English as a foreign language) and French to all age groups. This continued into more work placements in various academic standards of schools during my studies. I have an open and easy style of teaching in a relaxed environment. I can adjust myself easily to individual needs and I am open to suggestions. I am open to use any study books and literature of your choice, including current material relevant to your studies. I am also able to provide teaching material. I teach German and English as a foreign language to any age group, from primary level to degree level and also to individuals who just want to catch up on an existing language level as well as new learners. I also offer tuition in English and German literature for GCSE as well as University students. In the past 2 years I have accompanied a great number of students to a successful graduation (most of them have achieved As and A*s in their GCSEs). Perfect! Absolute game-changer. Finding a language tutor who can keep a child fully engaged is rare, but Vannessa managed to make every single minute of German fun and rewarding. Our daughter went from mid level to too and also previously being intimidated by the grammar / hesitant to speak] to genuinely looking forward to every session. Vannessa brings incredible energy, patience, and a tailored approach that built her confidence rapidly. We couldn’t be more pleased with the progress she’s made and highly recommend them to any parent!

Vannessa provides very high standards of German teaching. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to GCSE exams and can support students and structure their revisions so they succeed at the exam. Personally, she is very kind, calm and patient which makes her a great teacher. I can highly recommend her!
Vannessa has been providing German tuition to my son to compliment his school studies.
The lessons, while being structured, have been presented in a fun and entertaining manner, with Vannessa being very patient and tailoring the lessons to his needs. The benefit of hearing the language from a native German speaker has resulted in a marked improvement in the understanding of the language for my son.
I would highly recommend Vannessa to anyone seeking a German tutor.I originally wanted a native speaking tutor with a lot of patience to teach me German and that's exactly what I got with Vannessa. She has great teaching skills and a warm personality. I can't recommend her enough.
I've been learning German with Vannessa since 2013 and I cannot recommend her enough. She is dedicated, disciplined, always well prepared and her lessons are varied and interesting. She has always shown extraordinary flexibility and understanding with regard to lesson times (no two weeks are alike for me because of my work, so this has been invaluable). Personally, Vannessa is very likeable and easy to get on with. She clearly enjoys her work and is extremely good at it.
Vanessa has been a valuable member of our family over these past 3 years. She teaches both German and English to my two daughters and has encouraged them to progress to their best potential. Vannessa is always prompt, well prepared and approachable and we highly recommend her.
I have no hesitation at all in recommending Vannessa as a tutor. She has a friendly flexible approach to teaching which is suiting my daughter well. Her lessons are always well planned and motivating.
I am a mature student in German. Vannessa G has been my tutor for about 3 years now. I started as an intermediate standard student having completed the Open University course, and wanted to improve on my fluency which was relatively weak. I believe I have progressed to Advanced in this respect over 3 years with a weekly 1.5hr lesson(Vannessa's words not mine!
