About Nicholas
Hi, my name is Nicholas and I'm an English teacher from Portland, Oregon. I've been teaching English for about three years, helping students with conversational American English and academic and professional writing.
In 2022 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Spanish as a Foreign Language from Portland State University, where I built a strong foundation in academic writing and worked as a student-teacher grading undergraduate essays in critical thinking. I have since received scholarships including the Critical Language Scholarship and the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, which allowed me to study language abroad, and have helped students craft their own successful university and scholarship application essays.
Alongside all of this I have spent three years teaching conversational American English to students of all ages, covering exam preparation, accent coaching, grammar, and core language skills. I have a neutral American accent and years of experience grading academic papers at the university level. As a language learner myself, I understand what genuinely helps.
