About Emily
I’m a native English speaker from the United States and a current graduate student at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), where I’m pursuing a Master’s degree in Statistics for Data Science. Before moving to Madrid, I spent several years working professionally in New York City, including in consulting and financial services. My professional background has given me extensive experience communicating with colleagues, clients, and senior leaders from around the world in English.
I’m friendly, patient, and genuinely enjoy helping others become more confident in English. I understand that speaking a new language can feel intimidating, so I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where you can make mistakes, ask questions, and improve at your own pace.

Approach:
I believe the best way to learn a language is to actually use it. My lessons are conversational, practical, and personalized to your goals. Each lesson is adapted to your level and interests. We might have a conversation about everyday life, work, travel, current events, or a topic you're passionate about. Along the way, I’ll help you improve your vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and fluency while providing constructive feedback and corrections.
Typical Lesson Structure:
We’ll usually begin with a relaxed conversation to practice speaking and identify areas we can work on. From there, we might focus on a specific skill such as vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, reading comprehension, or professional communication. I’ll introduce new material based on your needs and finish with practical exercises or conversation so you can immediately apply what you’ve learned. I'll also give takeaway assignments for you to practice in between lessons.

As a native English speaker from the U.S. with a professional background in business, technology, and data analytics, I can help you develop English that is especially useful in professional settings.
