About Derrick

As a nationally published math educator and department chair, I have dedicated my career to understanding how students learn and how to help them excel. My tutoring approach centers on helping students build deep, confident understanding of mathematics through inquiry, discussion, and strategic problem‑solving.
I design lessons that begin with quick diagnostic warm‑ups, move into conceptual exploration, and then progress to guided and independent practice tailored to each learner.
Drawing on my experience as a department chair, nationally published math educator, and AP Reader, I bring a unique blend of research‑based strategies and high‑level assessment insight to every session.
What sets me apart is my ability to make students’ thinking visible, address misconceptions early, and connect ideas across multiple math courses.

I work with middle school, high school, and early college students across all math levels—from Algebra to AP Calculus—offering both remediation and enrichment.
