About Diego
Hello! I'm Diego!
I'm a chess coach and a student studying maths! I played my first tournament aged 9 and haven't looked back since. I reached a FIDE ELO of 2000 at 15 years old and beat my first titled player. I then became an English national Champion at 17, winning the national schools championship.
I've worked at a chess club for over 4 years, helping analyse students' games, and am confident I can take your chess to the next level!

I use a calculation-first approach as I believe it is the most important part of the game and is useful not just for chess. I combine this with strategy, structures, common themes, and game analysis to help you learn from your mistakes.
Once I believe my students have mastered the fundamentals, I will help them develop a system to calculate that can beat very strong players. It is hard work and takes practice, but it is essential for improving in the long run (and not just in chess!)
My lessons are suitable for all ages, from beginners to strong club players. I will keep lessons fun and exciting for younger students.
