About Maria
Hello, my name is Maria and I am a tutor! I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2020 where I studied Natural Sciences BSc Hons, achieving a 2:1. A few of my hobbies are reading, fashion, doing puzzles, football, public speaking and taking flight lessons! I realised, whilst at university, how much I love working with individuals who want to better themselves and succeed academically! Naturally, this leads to personal development where I have helped students become more confident, fearless and eager to work hard to get the best grades possible.
My areas of focus are KS2, KS3, GCSE Maths, Biology and Chemistry but have experience in various other capacities such as 11+ prep! If I could describe my teaching style, it would be ‘structured yet fun.’
I believe what makes me a good tutor is my level of professionalism and the time I put in behind the scenes to support a student in their growth. The most important thing to me is a willingness to learn and an open communication so that we can work together to reach a common goal!

The initial lessons are spent building rapport, finding out about hobbies and interests and academic strengths and weaknesses. This provides a clear blueprint moving forward on how to tailor the lessons to the individual so that we can start seeing progress immediately! I thoroughly enjoy uploading resources onto a shared whiteboard and working through them together with the student as it allows for a more interactive session and enables us to keep a log of the work we have done to-date.
