About Barret
Barret Smith is an accomplished woodwind and piano music teacher with a passion for nurturing musical talent. With twenty years of playing and seven years of teaching experience under his belt, Barret brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to his students. He earned his undergraduate degree in Music Performance from The University of Mary, honing his skills and deepening his understanding of the art.
Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Barret pursued a master's degree in Saxophone Performance at The University of Wisconsin - Madison. His dedication to his craft and commitment to musical education has shaped him into a skilled and versatile instructor.
His passions center around music education and performing arts. In his extensive performing experience, he finds particular joy in playing for pit orchestras. Notably, he has recently contributed his musical talents to the show "First Date," and among his favorite performances is his involvement in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Hello! My name is Barret, and I could be your new private lessons instructor! I have been playing music for most of my life, and teaching music for the last 8 years. During my time teaching, I have taught students of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels. Whether you are just starting out, looking to pick an instrument up after years away, or a current player looking to improve, I am a great fit for you. My first priority with a new student is to get to know your musical wants and needs and to find out how I can best meet you where you are. I then temper our lessons to best suit those needs and carry you through and beyond the musical goals that we set.
My teaching style is very individualistic and focuses on teaching music through your instrument. I recognize that all students take lessons for a wide variety of reasons, and I will approach our lessons with that idea in mind.
