About Derek
I am a native of Dublin, Ireland, am currently studying and hope to finish my BA in Creative Music Practice at IADT in 2022.
I have been teaching English as a foreign/second language for several years abroad and in Ireland and have enjoyed the experience of sharing my knowledge and language skills.
I like to help others and having travelled and lived in foreign countries, I understand the difficulties and challenges that come settling in to a new society while trying to learn a new language.

I apply the CLT - communicative language teaching - method to my lessons which places the focus on the learner to speak and listen, encouraging and prompting them to express themselves.
I tailor the lesson - usually 45 minutes long - based on the individual students needs.
I have three plus years experience as both a freelance tutor in one to one and small group lessons and a classroom teacher/instructor with larger groups, mainly adults.
My lessons are more suited for 18 and upwards, adults at basic to advanced levels.
