About Lizzi
Growing up in the San Diego jazz scene, I performed professionally with accomplished local artists from the time that I was 15 years old. I continued my music education in the prestigious jazz program at the University of North Texas, where I performed and arranged for the UNT Jazz Singers. I am a published recording artist, composer, and arranger and have had my original compositions sung by high school, college, and professional vocal jazz ensembles throughout the country.

I teach students of all levels and ages find their voice as a musician. My areas of expertise include vocal technique, piano, improvisation, theory, composition, and songwriting. I teach lessons both on Zoom and in person in Northside Chicago.
My teaching philosophy revolves around teaching practical music and jazz theory fundamentals while instilling a
love for the creative and abstract sides of music. It’s important to me to find what materials and teaching styles
work best for each individual student so they can grow and develop in their own unique way. As a vocalist with
an instrumentalist background, I am able to approach and teach musical concepts from multiple perspectives,
challenging each music student to access more than just one facet of their personal musicianship. On top of the
fundamentals, I believe that who we are as musicians and artists is deeply connected to who we are outside of
just a musical realm, and I love helping students feel empowered to access all parts of themselves to realize their
own individual artistry. It is so imperative to me that I help to create and foster a safe and compassionate space
for my students to find their own agency through their instrument, and to find music that makes them excited
about the art form.
