About Katy
I am both a piano tutor and published poet and believe the arts feature as tremendously important in nourishing our daily lives. I have always been surrounded by the arts in my family, my grandmother being a musician and my parents writers. So doing a Music degree and continuing to postgrad level felt natural to me. I get great joy from seeing my students grow and develop as pianists, particularly when I have taught them from beginner to advanced pianist.

I have a particular strength as a tutor in understanding the potential difficulties which can crop up at times, and pride myself in being able to devise ways of overcoming them. I get on particularly well with children and students, and I use a variety of teaching resources in my lessons, combining tutor demonstration, reading notation and listening to professional recordings.

Details
I offer 1/2 hr, 3/4 hr and 1 hr lessons in piano and music theory. A first 30-minute lesson is offered free as it is on a get-to-know basis for each of us and a chance to find out what you hope to achieve and get out of your lessons.
