About Gloria
Hi! I’m a focused and patient Maths tutor who believes that students learn best when they’re in control of their own learning journey. I take a student-led approach, meaning I guide, support, and adapt to your needs so that you not only understand the material but also build lasting confidence in yourself. I completed both the IB MYP and IB Diploma Programme at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, where I studied Maths extensively. My favourite topics were geometry, algebra, and trigonometry, but I enjoy supporting students across the full IB Maths syllabus. I was accepted into UCL where I’m now studying Pharmacology. I'm therefore very familiar with the IB curriculum and assessment style, and can help you navigate its unique structure.

My lessons are specifically for students in Year 9 all the way up to DP2. In a typical 1hr 30mins session, I start by reviewing what you’re working on or stuck with, and then we’ll walk through the concepts together using examples and questions. I like to ask open-ended questions along the way to encourage independent thinking and will always check that you’re genuinely understanding — not just memorising. While I haven’t tutored professionally before, I have volunteered to support younger students in Maths. One of my most rewarding moments was seeing a student I helped go from performing poorly to confidently solving problems on their own in class, assessments, and even helping others. That experience showed me how powerful encouragement and the right guidance can be.
