About Alan
I am originally from Hong Kong and learnt English as a second language. Having studied complex subjects such as Maths and Physics in a non-native language, I understand the first-hand challenges that come with grasping new concepts and technical terms in English. This experience allows me to better support international students who may face similar difficulties, helping them bridge language barriers. During my A-Levels, I initially found it challenging to comprehend and manage the large amount of content, but through time, I have developed a systematic approach to learning and revision that improved my performance. I aim to share these methods and experience with students who may be finding it difficult to perform well, helping them learn efficiently and achieve their academic goals.

My teaching approach is interactive and focused on helping students understand the underlying theory behind each topic rather than relying solely on memorisation. I guide students through worked examples and past paper questions to reinforce their understanding and ensure they can apply concepts effectively in exams. Lessons typically range from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the student’s needs. I have over two years of experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, helping students to improve both exam performance.
