I understand the student's way of learning and try to teach in the same manner. I believe an interactive class makes the session more productive. I prefer the class material to be handed beforehand so that I get time to prepare accordingly.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in Mathematics, Economics, and Accounting began during my undergraduate studies. I was naturally drawn to analytical subjects that required logical reasoning and structured thinking. During my Bachelor’s degree, I began working as a Teaching Assistant — and that experience shaped my passion for tutoring.

What started as academic support soon became something I genuinely loved. For over 10 years now, I have been involved in teaching and mentoring students, helping them build clarity and confidence in subjects that often feel intimidating.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I enjoy teaching anything and everything in my classes.

    In Mathematics, I particularly enjoy:

    Algebra and advanced functions

    Calculus and its applications

    Probability and statistics

    Analytical problem-solving strategies

    In Economics, I enjoy:

Microeconomics (demand & supply, elasticity, market structures)

Macroeconomics (GDP, inflation, unemployment, policy impact)

Applying theory to real-world economic situations

    In Accounting, I focus on:

    Financial statements

    Journal entries and adjustments

    Costing concepts

Understanding the logic behind accounting principles

What I enjoy most is helping students move beyond memorisation and truly understand the “why” behind concepts. Pure rote learning without conceptual clarity is something I actively try to avoid in my teaching.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes. I was inspired by professors who combined subject expertise with patience. They created environments where students felt comfortable asking questions — even basic ones.

As a Teaching Assistant, I learned early on that knowledge alone is not enough; approachability and clarity matter just as much.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    A good tutor should have:

    Strong conceptual foundations

    Patience and empathy

    Clear communication skills

    Structured teaching methods

    Adaptability to different learning styles

The ability to build student confidence

After more than a decade in teaching roles, I strongly believe that a tutor’s job is not just to explain — but to empower.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my time as a Teaching Assistant, I once worked with a student who believed they were “just bad at Maths.” Over a few weeks, we focused not on speed, but on understanding patterns and logic.

When that student later performed exceptionally well in exams, it reinforced something important: students don’t lack ability — they often lack the right guidance and confidence.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

These subjects can feel overwhelming because they are cumulative — if foundational concepts are weak, advanced topics become difficult.

Earlier in my academic journey, I experienced the pressure of balancing speed and accuracy. Over time, I developed structured revision techniques and problem-solving frameworks, which I now share with my students to make learning manageable and strategic.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Yes — my passion lies in analytical thinking and teaching.

I enjoy helping students think critically, whether it’s solving a calculus problem, analysing a market structure, or interpreting financial data. Teaching, for me, is about shaping independent thinkers.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

With over 10 years of teaching experience since my Bachelor’s degree, I bring both academic depth and practical mentoring experience.

What makes me a Superprof is my ability to combine:

    Structure

    Clarity

    Patience

    Real academic experience

Students don’t just learn formulas in my sessions — they gain confidence, strategy, and independence.
