About Risa
Music exists as an oral tradition before it ever touches a page, which is why I prioritize listening over reading during our early sessions. My DMA from the Michigan School of Music anchors a 13-year career that emphasizes imitation before analysis. I find that learning through the Suzuki method provides a foundational clarity that lasts a lifetime.
Developing technical facility requires focus on posture and hold alongside consistent tone production. Whether we work on grade exam prep for ABRSM or Trinity, I ensure that foundational music theory is woven into every study. You will gain mastery over spiccato and staccato bowing while exploring classical and contemporary repertoire. Your artistic path starts here as we clarify the specific objectives for your musical future.

The room fills with the resonance of a well tuned violin as we begin with deliberate, slow bow strokes. I track every technical detail with the precision of a 6.0 scale rating to ensure accuracy.
My approach treats extended techniques and quartertones as essential parts of your development. I provide a monthly progress report shared with parents to keep communication open.
13 years of orchestral work inform how I teach sight reading and ear training skills. Your growth is measured by consistent practice and clarity of sound. We address posture and hold during every minute of our time together. The process remains straightforward.
