About Chris
Successfully parlayed SAT scores of 800 math / 750 verbal into a BS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT with minors in economics and business. Several years into my 30+ year career I segued into computer science and IT, where I have had experience in virtually every functional area including servers and server farm deployment, software development, networking, security, database architecture, web and mobile development, CRM and ERP application integration, cloud migrations, and ultimately technology management. Experienced in a wide range of professional environments from small internet startups to Fortune 500 companies, rising in my career from engineer to manager to director level and finally VP, SVP and CIO/CTO levels. Now that I am toward the latter years of my career, I find tutoring the next generation of tech leaders to be deeply satisfying and an excellent use of my time. I am extremely passionate about my fields of expertise and have been told that I am quite good at explaining complex STEM subjects to people of all ages and backgrounds.

My tutoring philosophy is that building a student's *confidence* in any subject is Job One in helping them master it.
For younger students (pre-HS) I have found that focusing on the fundamentals -- arithmetic, fractions, exponents, order of operations, simplifying equations, "solving for X" -- are the core skills that must be completely innate/second nature for students to move on to more advanced topics.
For older students (HS through college) I assume that the student desires mastery of STEM subjects to help them achieve specific life goals ranging from scoring an 800 on the math SAT to getting into their college of choice to preparing for a successful career in tech, all of which I was able to achieve in my life.
I do not have a boilerplate lesson plan as I work with each student to identify their goals, their strengths and weaknesses, and their biggest sources of both satisfaction and anxiety in STEM in order to custom tailor a lesson plan specific to their needs.

I known Chris personally for decades and highly recommend him, without the slightest reservation. He is a committed, reliable, honest, and responsible professional; Chris' broad, deep knowledge of mathematics has helped my kids digest complex topics in simple terms. He's an excellent teacher, a wonderful person, and couldn't be better to work with. Chris approaches his work with an open mind, a creative spirit, curiosity, and a genuine interest in helping others succeed. He is patient, caring, and maintains a fantastic sense of humor. You can't miss with Chris!
I was extremely satisfied with the math tutoring Chris provided to my children when they were in HS. He was able to make mathematical concepts accessible and helped improve their SAT scores and maintain high grades in honors and AP classes in a very competitive environment. Perhaps most important, he gave them confidence to approach math, which has continued to be beneficial to their academic success. My children , who are now in college and grad school, will still reference approaches and concepts that Chris taught them. He was even able to explain concepts in a way I could understand. Any student would be fortunate to have Chris as their tutor.
