As a tutor, I blend structure, strategy, and student voice to ensure meaningful learning. My method is rooted in Common Core-aligned instruction, which emphasizes critical thinking, text-based evidence, and structured writing. I use gradual release techniques (“I do, we do, you do”) and incorporate real-world topics and culturally responsive texts to keep students engaged and motivated.
A typical lesson begins with a clear objective and success criteria, followed by a short, interactive mini-lesson. Then, we move into guided practice, where I model thinking and provide targeted feedback. We close with independent practice and reflection, ensuring the student can apply the skill confidently on their own. I also use formative assessments to drive next steps and differentiate instruction.
What sets me apart is my dual lens as a high-performing educator and elite athlete. I build discipline, confidence, and resilience in my students—skills that apply both in the classroom and beyond. My instruction is data-informed, culturally responsive, and purpose-driven.
My lessons are best suited for middle and high school students, particularly those in grades 4–10 who need support with reading comprehension, evidence-based writing, test preparation, or executive functioning skills. I also specialize in helping struggling learners close skill gaps through MTSS-aligned interventions.
