I’m Bruce Stewart, an English tutor who combines empathy, clear explanations, and steady follow-through to help students write with purpose and read with power.
Teaching method & techniques: I start with a brief diagnostic and your live assignments, then build a personalized plan. I teach through think-aloud modeling, sentence-combining, mentor texts, and color-coded annotation. We practice retrieval (quick recall drills), micro-writing (100–150 word bursts), and revise with targeted rubrics. I also coach executive-function skills—planning, breaking tasks into steps, and finishing on time. Generative AI is used ethically as a brainstorming and revision aid, never as a shortcut.
A typical 60-minute lesson: 1) Two-minute check-in and goal set. 2) Warm-up skill (thesis, evidence, syntax, or grammar). 3) Mini-lesson with a model paragraph. 4) Guided practice on your current assignment (we co-write a paragraph). 5) Independent application while I circulate feedback. 6) Quick reflection and a simple action plan with due dates. You leave with a clean outline, a next paragraph to draft, and a checklist for revision. We track growth week to week.
