About Kelsey
I have been tutoring for 8 years. I was first hired to help my peers when I was in high school, and since then I have had many clients as my tutoring business has continued to grow. Though I will gladly assist students with any subject, I specialize in tutoring math and science. I majored in molecular and cellular biology, and though I did not major in math I have been successful in upper-level courses such as Calculus 2. My students typically are able to increase their overall grade in a course by at least one letter grade if I work with them over a period of a few months. I continuously grow as a tutor by taking on new challenges, and most recently I was hired as an SAT tutor by a local test prep company.

I have the most experience with high school students, though I have tutored students in middle school. I strive to use the socratic method in my tutoring, which means that I ask a student questions to gauge their understanding of a topic. I also encourage students to explain things back to me once we have gone over them together. This allows me to ensure that they are understanding the material that we are covering. I am cognizant that all students are unique in terms of how they learn best, so I try to adapt my tutoring when I can. For example, I might use more diagrams than usual if I knew that a student was a visual learner. I am invested in my students' success, and I try to encourage them through my teaching while also challenging them to reach their full potential.
