About Beth
I lived in Nepal for 15 months working as an English teacher full time for children in classes 1-10. Class sizes varied from one-to-one tuition to up to 60 pupils and I covered all aspects of reading, writing, speaking and listening. As my Nepali language skills developed I enjoyed teaching social science, computing and science in an informal setting. During this time I became confident with language teaching and learning and began to understand the complexities and similarities between English and Nepali and approach learning and teaching from both sides. Using these language skills I became involved in menstrual hygiene projects, Rural eye health and film projects.
Prior to this experience I have supported refugees in Cardiff with English language learning and learned how to tailor lessons to the needs of each individual, whether it’s to have conversations, fill out paperwork or read books.
I am now a medical student, and spend my 3 month university holidays In Nepal to further improve my language skills. During work experience placements I have developed skills working with individuals with special learning needs and will try my best to make lessons accessible for all.

After a small introductory quiz in the first free lesson I will approach each topic with an open conversation with you to set goals and potential worries. Depending on your base understanding of Nepali and time commitments we will design a plan. Communication is key to every aspect of my teaching methodology and I have a variety of resources such as vocabulary lists, recordings, powerpoints and games that will be used at different points to consolidate learning. I will speak to you mostly in Nepali to emulate the natural Exposure to the language. As your progress, I have access to contacts and resources to help you further your learning with native speakers.
