About Tumi
I understand firsthand how challenging studying can be — especially when you’re working towards big goals like getting into medical school. Having faced those struggles myself, I know how overwhelming it can feel at times, but I also know that with the right support and guidance, every student can overcome those hurdles and succeed. My experience has taught me that learning isn’t just about memorising information — it’s about understanding concepts deeply, building confidence, and finding what study methods work best for you. That’s the approach I bring to my tutoring: patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I’m passionate about helping young people discover their potential and develop a genuine interest in learning. Whether a student is preparing for exams, trying to improve their grades, or simply needs a boost in confidence, I aim to make every lesson engaging, clear, and focused on growth. My goal is not only to help students achieve academic success but also to show them that persistence and self-belief can turn challenges into achievements — something I’ve experienced personally on my journey into medicine.

I believe that effective tutoring is centred on understanding each student’s unique learning style and building their confidence as much as their knowledge. My approach combines structured lesson plans with flexibility to adapt to the student’s pace and goals. I focus on creating a supportive, engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing critical thinking skills. I use a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive discussion. I often start with a short diagnostic or conversation to assess the student’s current understanding, then tailor each lesson to address specific gaps. I integrate real-world examples, visual aids, and active learning techniques (like problem-solving exercises or mini quizzes) to reinforce key concepts. I also encourage students to explain concepts back to me — a powerful way to ensure true understanding. Most lessons last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs and attention span. For younger learners or intensive exam preparation, I may recommend shorter, more frequent sessions to maintain focus and consistency. I am a first-year medical student and have over three years of experience tutoring secondary school students. I’ve worked with students across various levels and have helped many improve their grades, exam results, and overall confidence. I teach Mathematics and Biology, to students aged 12-18 or students in secondary school or college.
