About David
I hold a mechanical engineering degree from NYU and spent three years working in aerospace. I didn't just study math, I used it professionally to solve real engineering problems. That gives me the ability to ground abstract concepts in real world context in a way most tutors can't. When a student asks "when will I ever use this?" I have a genuine answer.

Teaching Method & Techniques
My approach starts with diagnosis. Before diving into any topic, I identify exactly where a student's understanding breaks down. Not just what they got wrong, but why they got it wrong. From there I rebuild from the ground up, focusing on foundational intuition over memorized procedures. A student who understands why a concept works will never have to re-learn it.
I'm a firm believer that there's no such thing as a student who "isn't a math person", only students who haven't yet found the explanation that clicks for them. I exercise patience and meet every student where they are, without judgment.
A Typical Lesson
1. Quick diagnostic: Identify the specific weak point, not just the broad topic
2. Strip the concept back to its simplest form and rebuild understanding from there
3. Work through examples together, with the student doing the driving
4. Confirm understanding by having the student explain the concept back in their own words
5. Practice problems targeting the exact gap we identified
Who This Is For
Middle and high school students struggling with math, whether that's pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or pre-calculus. Particularly well suited for students who feel like they've fallen behind, have gaps in foundational knowledge, or have been told they're just "not good at math." My goal is to change that narrative permanently.
