About Saina

I’m Saina! a soprano, performer, and voice teacher based in Montreal. I teach different styles including pop, musical theatre, classical, and rock, and I always try to adapt lessons to each student’s voice, personality, and goals. Whether you’re a beginner or already experienced, my goal is to help you feel more confident, expressive, and comfortable with your voice. I graduated in Voice Performance from McGill University and I’m currently continuing my studies in opera at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to perform in recitals, opera productions, concerts, and interdisciplinary projects in Canada, Europe, and Iran, and I was also invited as a soloist at the University of Toronto New Music Festival. As much as I love performing, I really love teaching and sharing what I’ve learned through my own journey with others. For me, singing lessons are not only about technique, but also about expression, confidence, and most importantly storytelling! It genuinely brings me joy to help others discover and explore their own voice!!️

For me, technique is really the base of everything. I care a lot about helping students sing without tension and feel comfortable in their body and voice, because at the end of the day, your body is your instrument. We work on breath support, vocal placement, ear training, musicality, and exploring different parts and colors of the voice so singing can start to feel more natural and free instead of forced. But at the same time, one of the things that matters the most to me is helping students find their own voice. I don’t really believe in copying other singers or trying to fit everyone into the same sound. I want students to feel connected to what they’re singing and to feel like they can express their personality and emotions through music. I usually choose exercises and repertoire based on what each student needs technically, but I also love when students bring songs they personally connect to. I really try to listen to where someone is in their journey and understand what their voice needs while still giving structure and direction in lessons. I also work a lot on text, storytelling, and interpretation. I always encourage students to think more deeply about what they’re singing and really make the song their own instead of just singing the notes correctly. More than anything, I want lessons to feel like a space where students can grow, explore, and enjoy their voice without feeling judged or limited.

  • When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

Growing up in a literary family, I was always surrounded by words and music. When my father was writing his books, he would listen to opera, classical music, and many other genres. I still remember the sound of his typewriter clicking in rhythm with the music playing in the background. Naturally, I began humming along, always inventing little tunes as I played. My mother noticed this and signed me up for music classes, which quickly became an important part of my life.
  • What makes you passionate about your subject?

For me, singing is such a unique art because it brings words and music together. It’s not just saying a text — the music gives each word a shape, a rhythm, and an emotion. You can build intensity, create climaxes, or let the melody flow gently, all while putting a piece of yourself into it. What excites me most is interpretation: finding what a poem or text really means to me and expressing that through the music. I’m especially passionate about art songs, because they’re the perfect meeting point of poetry and music.
  • What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a “Superprof”?

I love tailoring lessons to each student’s unique personality, goals, and voice. One of the best parts of teaching is seeing students become comfortable with their own sound — that moment when they get excited about discovering a part of their voice they never knew was there. I really enjoy when a student sings their favorite song and realizes they can enjoy performing it even more than just listening to it. I would say what makes me a “Superprof” is my encouraging approach: I bring my own pace and structure to the lessons, but I always respect each student’s rhythm and make sure they feel supported every step of the way.
  • Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I’ve had teachers who inspired me deeply — one who gave me a strong foundation in classical music, and another who taught me how to bring myself into every song I sing. Their guidance has stayed with me, and I never get tired of carrying their lessons forward in my own teaching.
  • What are your keys to success?

I believe the first key to success in singing is simply enjoying what you’re doing. When students feel free to let their heart out, connect with their emotions, and sing without tension, that’s when real progress begins. My role is to guide them gently toward that approach — where singing feels natural and expressive, not pressured or forced. Of course, practice plays a part, but it should always feel enjoyable. When students discover how much they can love the process, feel confident in their own voice, and express themselves fully, that’s when true success happens.
