About Maya

Hello! I’m Maya Patel, and I’m thrilled to bring my diverse academic background, professional experience, and passion for mentorship to support students in their learning journey. Education & Expertise: I am currently a student at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Management and Law, Ethics, and Decision-Making (LEAD) with a Pre-Law advising track. My academic foundation emphasizes critical thinking, structured problem-solving, and communication skills—essentials for excelling in English, history, and other subjects. With a strong GPA (94.29/100) from Montgomery High School and extensive experience in leadership and community service, I understand the dedication required for academic success. Professionalism & Experience: As a former marketing intern at Integ Enterprise Consulting, I honed my skills in writing, editing, and research. My role involved producing high-quality content and optimizing outreach strategies, reflecting my ability to deliver precise and impactful work. What You Can Expect: As a tutor, I bring a unique blend of academic excellence, professional insight, and personal dedication to every lesson. My passion for English and history is matched by my ability to make complex ideas relatable and engaging. Whether helping with essay writing, reading comprehension, or developing critical thinking skills, my approach is interactive, patient, and tailored to individual needs. Who I Teach: I specialize in supporting K-12 students across various skill levels, from foundational reading and writing to advanced coursework like AP Literature. My lessons are ideal for students looking to excel in English and history or improve their overall academic performance. I look forward to partnering with students and helping them achieve their goals with confidence and success!

About the lesson

Teaching Method and Techniques: - My teaching approach is highly interactive, emphasizing collaboration and active problem-solving. - I guide students through challenges by working alongside them, fostering critical thinking and independence. - Lessons often include discussions, brainstorming sessions, and real-time feedback. - I encourage questions and create a comfortable space for students to explore ideas freely. Typical Lesson Plan: Introduction (5-10 minutes): Brief review of the previous lesson and outline of today’s goals. Core Activity (30-40 minutes): Depending on the subject: Reading Comprehension: Analyze texts together, discussing themes, tone, and context. Essay Writing/Proofreading: Work through writing structure, strengthen arguments, refine grammar, and ensure clarity. Collaborative editing ensures students understand how to improve their work. Practice and Application (10-15 minutes): Students apply what they've learned through exercises or drafting. I provide guidance as they practice independently. Wrap-Up (5 minutes): Recap key takeaways, answer any remaining questions, and set goals for the next session. What Sets Me Apart: - I have always had a deep passion for English and history. - My enthusiasm for storytelling, analysis, and effective communication makes lessons engaging and inspiring. - I emphasize real-world applications of skills and strive to boost my students’ confidence in their abilities. Who the Lessons Are For: - I specialize in tutoring K-12 students at varying levels of proficiency. - Whether the focus is improving reading skills, tackling essay writing, or delving into historical analysis, I adapt my lessons to meet each student’s needs and academic goals. My approach is ideal for students seeking support with school coursework, AP preparation, or skill development in English and history.
