About Miles

I am a Mathematics tutor with over 5 years of teaching experience and a BA in Mathematics. My main academic focus lies in topology and knot theory, areas of mathematics that explore the deep nature of shapes, spaces, and continuous deformations. These subjects may seem abstract, but they hold surprising connections to the world we see and touch. In my sessions, I use visual aids, diagrams, and physical models to make these concepts come alive. From illustrating the twists of a knot to mapping the surfaces of complex spaces, I ensure students can “see” the mathematics. I also draw connections to real-world applications, such as molecular structures in chemistry, patterns in physics, and even design principles in art. I work with students who are curious about abstract mathematics, as well as those who want to bridge it with other fields. My lessons encourage both creative thinking and logical precision, helping learners appreciate the balance between intuition and proof. Whether you are aiming for academic excellence, research preparation, or simply exploring the beauty of mathematics, I offer a space to learn at your own pace. In topology and knot theory, we enter a world where imagination guides discovery, and every twist and turn leads to a deeper truth. Let’s explore a branch of mathematics where intuition meets rigorous proof.

My teaching approach in Mathematics is gentle, reflective, and designed to build deep conceptual understanding. I believe higher mathematics is not just about solving problems but about seeing patterns, structures, and connections. I teach topics ranging from school-level basics to advanced concepts like abstract algebra, number theory, mathematical proofs, and theoretical frameworks. Every lesson is planned to make complex ideas feel approachable and logical.

For students aiming to master calculus, pre-calculus, or advanced algebra, I focus on building strong foundations before moving to challenging problems. I guide learners to explore their own reasoning process and see mathematics as a creative journey. For DIY learners and researchers, I provide tools, resources, and strategies that help them discover unique paths to solving theorems.

My method involves breaking down theories into clear steps, connecting them to real-world analogies, and encouraging questions at every stage. Short problem-solving drills are paired with reflective discussions to strengthen both speed and insight. I help students prepare for exams, excel in assignments, and grow the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems. The goal is not only to learn mathematics but to think mathematically in a new way.
