I have known Danny for over 50 years, since we were at primary school together – we were housemates as we each went to university, and as he got his maths degree; later, he acquired his teaching experience and qualifications. In education and socially, Danny was always the most popular person in the room.

I know from his previous tutoring time, that he received glowing reports (which I have read) back from the young people he taught, and their parents, praising not only his maths ability, but his ability to make lessons fun, which of course meant the children enjoyed them and learned more. I know that this was particularly the case when engaging children who had struggled in a mainstream education environment, whether this was about their learning or other factors, adapting his skills and style to the individual child.
