About Mark
I hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics and have spent over 30 years applying those skills in the real world as a senior software engineer, technical lead, and mentor. My career spans both financial and non-financial sectors, where I’ve designed complex systems, led development teams, and championed code quality and clarity. Alongside my technical work, I’ve always enjoyed helping others grow — whether mentoring junior developers or tutoring students in maths. I believe in making maths accessible, logical, and even enjoyable, no matter your starting point. Outside of work, I’ve studied martial arts for over two decades, coached Rugby and American Football, and served on community boards. I also enjoy science, reading, writing short stories, and strategic board games — all of which feed into my love of problem-solving and clear thinking.

Whether you're building foundational skills, preparing for exams, or looking to deepen your understanding, I tailor each lesson to your goals and learning style. My approach is calm, clear, and practical — I focus on building confidence through understanding, not memorisation. With a background in software engineering and mentoring, I’m used to breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and helping learners develop both skill and self-belief. Lessons are interactive and flexible, with plenty of space for questions, discussion, and real-world context. I work with students of all ages and levels, from GCSE and A-level to adult learners returning to maths after a break.
