About Kaia
I have always enjoyed the challenge and logic of mathematics, which led me to pursue a B.A in Mathematics Education and dedicate seven years to teaching students of all ages. I am passionate about helping learners feel confident in their abilities and fostering a genuine appreciation for the subject. My approach focuses on patient guidance, clear explanations, and practical problem-solving strategies tailored to each student’s learning style. Throughout my career, I have worked with students from elementary concepts through middle school math, algebra, geometry, and SAT math preparation. I strive to make lessons engaging and accessible, emphasizing understanding rather than rote memorization. Many students arrive nervous or unsure, and I enjoy showing them that math can be both manageable and enjoyable when approached step by step. Witnessing their confidence grow as they succeed in solving challenging problems is incredibly rewarding. Outside teaching, I continue exploring mathematical puzzles, instructional methods, and creative exercises that enhance learning. I integrate new strategies into my lessons to make concepts clear and relatable. By connecting math to real-world examples and encouraging exploration, I ensure learners not only improve academically but also develop a lifelong interest and confidence in mathematics. My ultimate goal is to support students in becoming capable, independent thinkers.

My Maths lessons start by focusing on elementary school math concepts, including number operations, fractions, place value, and basic problem-solving. I guide students patiently, using relatable examples and visual aids to build confidence and understanding. At this level, students develop a strong foundation, which ensures they are well-prepared to tackle more advanced topics in the future. The goal is to create a supportive learning environment that reduces math anxiety and promotes curiosity and engagement with numbers.
As students progress to middle school math, we explore expressions, equations, ratios, introductory algebra, coordinate geometry, and logical reasoning. I focus on building structured problem-solving skills and reinforcing understanding through hands-on exercises, examples, and stepwise explanation. Learners practice analyzing questions carefully and connecting ideas, which helps develop critical thinking skills and strengthens confidence. This stage lays the groundwork for success in high school math and standardized tests.
For advanced learners, lessons focus on algebra, geometry, word problems, and targeted preparation for SAT math. I teach students strategies for breaking down complex problems, recognizing patterns, and applying formulas effectively. Timed practice, stepwise problem-solving, and consistent reinforcement build both competence and confidence. My goal is to help students understand math intuitively, perform well in exams, and develop skills that will benefit them academically and personally for years to come.
