About Tess
I am a Math tutor with over 3 years of experience and a PhD in Mathematics, specializing in applying mathematical principles to environmental science and sustainability modeling. My passion lies in using mathematics to address some of the most pressing challenges our planet faces. I work extensively with topics such as population dynamics, resource management, and climate modeling techniques. My teaching approach for Maths is **relaxed, application-focused, and deeply connected to real-world uses**. I believe mathematics is not only about solving equations but also about shaping the way we think, especially in today’s digital world. I link concepts in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus with ideas in coding logic, algorithmic thinking, and computational processes.
I often use programming analogies to make complex concepts more relatable. For example, explaining functions as reusable “code blocks” or algorithms as step-by-step problem-solving recipes. This helps students connect math with skills in discrete mathematics and computer science.
Lessons are interactive and conversation-driven. Students are encouraged to ask questions freely and explain their thought process without fear of mistakes.
