About Justine
*My prices are variable, please ask!* Hi! I'm Justine. I have tutored mathematics privately at all levels since 2004, but now I specialise in supporting students through A-Levels, university admissions including STEP and MAT, and at degree level. I have also been employed as a tutor at the University of Bath, Imperial College London, and as a private tutor for students at several universities including Cambridge, Oxford, UCL, LSE, etc. I have a PhD in applied mathematics at Imperial College London; prior to that I studied at the University of Cambridge for Part III of the Mathematical Tripos, the University of Bath for an MMath, and simultaneously, a Licence 3 at Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble I). I tailor my approach to each student, but I especially focus on giving the student a physical, intuitive understanding of the processes involved, what they mean and why they are important. This deeper level of understanding is essential at university, but also safeguards the student from the "trick" tactics that are being increasingly employed in A-Level examinations. With these tools my previous students have gone from repeating the year to gaining the highest marks, and top in their year. Let's get there! Justine helped me with A-level maths and physics, and gave me advice on my Cambridge application and interviews. I was the only one in my school to apply to Cambridge, and they didn't know first-hand what it would be like. Justine gave me many helpful tips and I had a lot more confidence on the day, and received an offer based on STEP grades.
Justine was then invaluable for helping me pass my STEP exams, and it was a lot of fun! The questions look scary to begin with, but with practice they are doable and are a lot more interesting than A-level maths.Justine has been tutoring my nephew A-level mathematics for nearly two years during which time she has been invaluable in improving his confidence and has been instrumental in helping him to achieve his A* in GCE A level mathematics. Justine is very engaging, incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about her subject, qualities which I found to be particularly important when asking her to help my nephew to prepare for the forthcoming STEP and MAT papers. Being a qualified teacher I can say, with some authority, that she comes highly recommended.
