About Geoff
I went to a comprehensive school in East Yorkshire, leaving with all A* grades at GCSE and A-Level.
Following education up to PhD level at Cambridge, I have professional experience in the civil service and finance sector (private equity).
My hobbies include getting out to the mountains and playing the piano. I am passionate about learning new things, and strive to teach in a thorough and engaging way.
Nothing is more demotivating than trying your best but not understanding. I want to do my best to help you.

I studied Chemistry (PhD level) and Engineering (undergraduate and masters) degrees at the University of Cambridge.
At the moment, I am offering (up to) GCSE level maths tuition. I also offer Oxbridge engineering interview preparation.
My teaching interests in maths go beyond simply running through material. I am keen to probe the understanding of my students in order to develop a continuous understanding of the subject area and ensure that baseline knowledge is correct. I have found that a 'gap' or misunderstanding can lead to difficulty when approaching more complicated topics.
I offer discounts for state-school students in Hull and the East Riding - please contact me for more information.
