  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

I developed a passion for Mathematics and Physical Sciences back in high school. I was always fascinated by how numbers, patterns, and formulas could explain real-world problems. My interest in tutoring started when I helped my classmates prepare for exams. Seeing them improve and gain confidence made me realize I had a gift for explaining concepts clearly and in a way others could relate to. That's what motivated me to start tutoring privately and eventually build my own academy.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Mathematics and Physical Sciences, mainly to high school students from Grade 8 to Grade 12. In Mathematics, I enjoy topics like Algebra, Functions, and Trigonometry because they're fundamental and open up problem-solving skills students can use in many areas. In Physical Sciences, I enjoy Mechanics and Electricity. I'm not too fond of topics that rely too much on rote memorization without clear application, but I always find ways to make them engaging for my students.
  • 3) Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I had a high school Mathematics teacher who made a big impact on me. She had a way of breaking down complex problems into simple, understandable steps. She believed in me when I struggled and pushed me to realize my potential. Her passion for teaching and her genuine care for students inspired me to follow a similar path.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs patience, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt their teaching style to different learners. It's important to be approachable, encouraging, and passionate about the subject. A tutor should also be organized, reliable, and constantly learning, because education evolves, and we must evolve with it.
  • 5) Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

Back in Grade 11, I remember struggling with Trigonometry. I failed a test and felt completely defeated. But I stayed behind after class and worked through problem after problem with my teacher. That experience taught me resilience and the value of practice. Today, I use that story to remind my students that failure isn't the end - it's a lesson and a stepping stone.
  • 6) Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

Yes, I faced challenges with time management and balancing multiple subjects, especially during exam season. There were also financial and personal obstacles, but I learned to stay disciplined, seek help when needed, and never lose sight of my goals. These experiences made me a better tutor because I understand what my students go through and can guide them through similar challenges.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

My passion lies in empowering young people through education. I love seeing students overcome their fears in Mathematics and Physical Sciences. Outside of teaching, I'm passionate about Data Analytics and plan to use those skills to develop educational tools and systems to improve student performance tracking in the future.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is my ability to connect with students, simplify difficult concepts, and create a supportive, motivating learning environment. I'm passionate, dedicated, and constantly seeking ways to improve my teaching. My students' success is my success, and I take pride in seeing them grow in confidence and ability.
