About Maya
My journey in mathematics began with a deep interest in patterns and the way logical structures can explain so many aspects of the world. This curiosity led me to complete a B.Sc in Mathematics followed by an M.Sc in Mathematical Analysis. Over the past 9 years of teaching, I have helped students overcome fear, confusion, and doubt by creating a supportive environment where questions are welcomed and concepts become meaningful. Whether teaching elementary school math fundamentals or advanced algebraic reasoning, I always adapt to the learner’s comfort level. I focus on patience, clarity, and the belief that every student can understand mathematics with proper guidance. My teaching style includes visual models, relatable examples, gentle correction, and steady encouragement. I enjoy helping students discover their strengths and develop confidence, especially when preparing for high-stakes assessments like SAT math. Watching learners transform from uncertainty to genuine understanding is one of the most fulfilling parts of my work. Outside the classroom, I continue exploring mathematics through reading, small research projects, and studying modern teaching approaches. This ongoing learning helps me bring fresh insights into every lesson and support students with clarity and purpose.

Mathematics becomes more approachable when students can break ideas into smaller, clear pieces that make sense step by step. My lessons begin by reinforcing essential skills from elementary school math, helping learners build confidence with numbers, early reasoning, and structured approaches to basic operations. As students progress into middle school math, we explore patterns, proportional thinking, expressions, and visual reasoning, creating a strong foundation that supports long-term growth. I guide learners with calm, patient instruction, making sure they understand why a method works before applying it.
For growing learners, we move deeper into algebra, geometry, equations, graph interpretation, and structured problem-solving. Each topic is introduced through explanation, followed by examples, guided practice, and reflection. I encourage students to see mathematics as a language of logic rather than a collection of steps. When preparing for exams, especially SAT math, we work on strategy, pacing, error reduction, and interpreting word problems with clarity and confidence. My goal is always to help each student feel steady, supported, and encouraged throughout the learning process.
Advanced sessions focus on multi-step reasoning, complex algebraic structures, modeling, coordinate geometry, and exam-style practice. Students receive individualized guidance that matches their pace and strengthens both conceptual understanding and analytical thinking. By blending patient instruction, visual explanation, and structured practice, I help learners develop confidence, clarity, and a positive relationship with mathematics.
