About Ciaran
My primary degree is in mathematics, with a master's degree in theoretical physics. After graduating I worked in various roles in research and industry, particularly software development which was a great environment for applying mathematical thinking. But this only made me realise that maths is my first love and so a few years ago I began tutoring maths, and returned to university to gain a formal qualification in secondary teaching.
At this stage I have been teaching and tutoring for over ten years, at all levels and in several different countries so I have experience of different syllabi, learning contexts and difficulty levels and the challenges they all present. But I've found that the common denominator is building a student's confidence!

Your learning journey will be unique to you, so we'll begin by figuring out what you'd like to achieve and identifying your strengths that will help you get there and the weaknesses that might hinder you. These will depend on your level, so it could be dividing fractions or partial differentiation or anything in between.
Each lesson will be structured around the mathematical steps on this journey. For online lessons I use Zoom with an interactive whiteboard. My own learning experience has given me a strong belief in tools that help students visualise the maths - computational engines or graphing software that bring it to life.
Lessons are typically one hour long, and I aim for a relaxed and friendly session that will build confidence.
