About Robert
Hello, name is Robert and I'm a private tutor based in Bristol with over 4000 hours (4+ years) experience.
I teach chemistry, mathematics and physics at GCSE and A levels (15 - 18 years old) and have experience in all the major exam boards. I also teach some undergraduate chemistry and physics courses.
My belief is that a good tutor should strive to inspire interest and build confidence in a student as a way to help them help themselves - not just teach to the test.
The tuition services I provide are: face-to-face tuition in your home or in a convenient location; revision classes for more than one person; web based lessons if you have access to an iPad or tablet computer.
In 2005 I graduated with a first class degree in chemistry from the University of Oxford and I also hold a masters degree in applied physics from Harvard University. I am currently a PhD candidate in Chemistry at the University of Bristol.
I aim to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere within my lessons to help keep attention and stimulate enthusiasm in subjects which many people find challenging and sometimes boring.

Rob was my tutor for Mathematics and Chemistry through GCSE and A-Level. He was an outstanding teacher throughout, helping me to achieve an A* in maths GCSE and an A in maths A level. He was passionate about his work, and his enthusiasm for Chemistry definitely inspired me to study chemistry at University. I could not recommend him highly enough.
Rob taught our daughter during her A levels (Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology) giving her general support and our son in maths in year 5 when he changed schools to enable him to catch up as he was moving to a more academic school. He taught both them at their level and they both thoroughly enjoyed his sessions. He was a delight to have in our house and would recommend him without reservation. He is excellent.
Robert was a great tutor. He really boosted my confidence and taught in such a fun yet effective way. He tutored me in maths, coding, and parts of the sciences throughout my secondary school education and the results were impressive.
He would cover topics thoroughly but without over-explanation, always giving support if you are struggling. I always looked forward to his sessions. His approach to teaching means you are not just being told information, you are exploring the subject together. I would find myself fascinated by what I was learning, developing my interest and enthusiasm for that subject. Something I wouldn't get in a typical classroom.
I would strongly recommend this tutor to anyone. Whether they are struggling with their current studies, or simply want to broaden their knowledge. Robert is very capable and will make a big difference!View more recommendations
