About Alex
Hello everyone! My name is Alex O. and I specialize in tutoring high school level math, as well as mathematics for standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT. I tutored my fellow classmates throughout high school and even started a program at my school to give supplemental instruction to students for their SATs.
Math has always been my greatest academic strength. I started taking high school level math courses in seventh grade, got a 5 on the AP Calculus exam as a sophomore, and scored an 800 on the math section of the SAT as well as an 800 on the SAT Math 2 Subject test. As a college math student, I have maintained a GPA of approximately 3.9. I hope to share my skill set with my students to help them develop passion for the universal and essential language that is mathematics.

I believe that the most important aspect to success in mathematics is consistent practice and a reliable teacher. I find tutoring to be a very gratifying experience, and I would love to help you or your student succeed academically. A typical lesson with me involves identifying challenges with the given material and helping students approach the content from a different angle. I hope to give students a new perspective, and to teach them to problem solve from a place of intuition rather than memorization.
I am most skilled at helping students at the middle school through early college level. This includes pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. I am also able to help prepare students for the math section of the SAT or ACT. Please reach out with any questions and we can discuss your specific needs!
