I am a third year mathematics student at the University of Birmingham, national level competitive powerlifter and powerlifting coach. I got into tutoring because I love teaching and would like to work in research/lecturing in the future, and would like to gain some experience.

I like to start sessions with ~5 minutes spent talking about the content, gauging where we're at knowledge/understanding wise, and (where appropriate) motivating the topic by providing a bit of context about where this subject is useful in the real world (for example using the idea of fences around a field to explain the idea of perimeter).
Then, the majority of my sessions focus on DOING, so I'll run through past paper questions on the topic, starting with pretty basic application questions and ending the session with some questions that might even be a little harder than what may come up in exams, to build some confidence.
My lessons typically take 45-60 minutes and are suitable for all ages from KS2 up to A level (including first and second year mathematics students taking modules in analysis and mechanics).
