About Timothy
My name is Tim, and I have recently completed my PhD in mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. I have a strong passion for maths and love to share it with others, enabling them to experience its elegance and usefulness. I have many years experience teaching students of all ability levels: it is my firm belief that nobody is bad a maths. All that's needed is a tutor with the patience and creativity to show the way!

I have four years of experience as a mathematics tutor at the University of Edinburgh, teaching a wide range of courses at undergraduate level. I have also taught school students. Happy to go through exam past papers, workshop exercises or just work through methods and theory to help your understanding!
I help students to see the bigger picture when attempting a problem, guiding them in how to apply abstract theory to solve the actual problem in hand. I build a scaffolding using hints and thought-provoking questions, enabling the students to find answers themselves, and then more easily apply the same theory to other similar problems.
Offering lessons of 30 or 60 minutes.
