About Emma
Hi I'm Emma and I am a Mathematics Graduate from the University of Southampton. I have been tutoring GCSE Maths and Physics since 2015 and have also worked for a tutoring company specialising in Maths, English and the 11+ for over 6 years. As a result, I have tutored many different ability levels and have learnt how to adapt my teaching style accordingly. I love tutoring because I once struggled with Maths and having a tutor gave me the confidence that I needed to succeed, so, being able to help other people achieve their potential is really rewarding. I aim to create a really positive learning environment for my students because I believe that it's incredibly beneficial for their learning and also makes it so much more enjoyable! One of my top session aims is to show my students the joy of learning and the power that being enthusiastic towards learning can have over their success!

Each lesson is 60 minutes long and my initial session will focus on gauging areas for improvement through practice exam style questions and chatting about topics that the student wants to focus on. My sessions are very interactive with lots of practice questions as well as worked examples to provide students with a better understanding of how to set up answers in a logical and easy to follow fashion. I will also recap key information and techniques from the previous session in the first 5-10 minutes of every session to monitor progress and ensure that students have a good understanding of topics that we have covered. I also give past exam questions at the end of each lesson to ensure that my students understand how to approach exam-style questions and apply their knowledge.
