About Tanner
My ability to succeed as a tutor is not to meaninglessly convey information. I am very concerned about the overall development of the student. Each person has a unique way of learning. My goal is to unearth the potential of every person and allow that potential to flourish into a true understanding of something real. It is important that the attitude of the student is sufficient. Someone once said that "true doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behaviors." I want to help the student understand that "true doctrine" (or mathematics in this case). I want to use my individual talents of being able to teach to enable my students to grow in their understanding and comprehension of the subject. I am not just here to move from one soliloquy/monologue to the next; I want my lessons to be engaging and presented in a way anyone can learn from. It is in the action that success is realized.

My lessons are quick but effective. I move at a sound pace, but make to sure cover all the basics. Again, I teach like I learn. My methods include example problems. I a very big on conveying the WHY to student who want to learn. My goal is to create a student who not only knows the subject, but truly understands it. A typical lesson plan would include a review of previous topics, and then a dive into nee materials. I would stop as the student desires to help and aid in different areas. Overall, I work at the pace of the student, while also reaching deadlines. I never move on until the student understands. I will also create and make tests and quizzes to check how much a student understands and retains. My classes are intended for high school students. They are geared toward and older-level group of students who need help and want to learn more.
