  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Mathematics has always been a subject of fascination for me because of its precision and logic. My interest began early, fueled by curiosity about how mathematical principles shape the world around us, from simple calculations to complex problem-solving. Over time, I found that mathematics offers a unique way to think critically and solve problems creatively, which led me to pursue it further. In school and college, I enjoyed the challenge of mathematics and the satisfaction that came with understanding complex concepts. This deep interest inspired me to not only study mathematics rigorously but also to share my knowledge with others, helping them appreciate the subject's beauty and utility.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My motivation for teaching comes from a few significant influences. First, I've had wonderful teachers who inspired me by making math accessible and engaging, which showed me the impact a dedicated teacher can have on a student's learning. They made math enjoyable and approachable, and I want to do the same for my students. Additionally, I love the idea of helping students build confidence in mathematics. Many people find math intimidating, and I want to show them that it can be manageable and even enjoyable with the right guidance. Teaching allows me to share my passion and help others overcome their struggles with the subject, which is very rewarding for me.
  • How does your work help society?

My work as a math tutor benefits society by building students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills. This foundation helps them succeed academically and professionally, encourages interest in STEM fields, and promotes a more knowledgeable and capable future generation.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

If I had to choose a role model for my work, I'd think of Carl Friedrich Gauss, often called the 'Prince of Mathematicians.' His curiosity, dedication, and contributions to mathematics are truly inspiring. Gauss's approach of viewing mathematics as both an art and a science resonates with me, as he combined creativity with logical precision. His passion for advancing mathematical knowledge and his commitment to solving complex problems motivate me to instill the same dedication in my students, helping them see mathematics as a meaningful, enriching discipline.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, especially books on history and science, as they broaden my understanding of the world. I also like solving puzzles and playing chess, which help sharpen my logical and strategic thinking. Additionally, I enjoy hiking and spending time in nature, as it gives me a chance to relax and recharge.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One of my favorite moments as a tutor was with a student who had always struggled with algebra and felt it was 'impossible' for her. After months of working together, she not only understood the concepts but also scored highly on her exams. Seeing her confidence grow and witnessing her excitement over her achievement was incredibly rewarding. This experience reinforced why I teach-to help students overcome obstacles and realize their potential. Moments like these motivate me to continue supporting others in their learning journeys.
