About ZaNia
I am someone who grew up loving school, and I continue to do so as I am en route to receiving my Medical Degree as a physician. Knowledge is a large chunk of my life, but not the only part. I am a very well-rounded person who loves to take part in sports such as volleyball, pickleball, surfing, and running. I enjoy going to church, being a part of clubs at my school, cooking/baking, and trying new things. Education is a parallel to life in the sense that every day we must grow and learn different life skills. Studying abroad both in college and currently for school, I have learned to adapt and push my boundaries to make new memories and experience new opportunities. I hope that I can convey to my students how important it is to take advantage of growth and how to make it unique to your life!

I first gauge the student's comfort level with their studies and learn more about their learning habits. As a student, I know I use different approaches for different topics, and as a tutor, the biggest part is listening to your student and finding the missing links to help bridge the gaps. Emphasizing confidence is a large component too, validating their successes is sometimes all they need to reinforce their abilities of solving problems. I also teach children to speak up if they are struggling because I am here to help. I've been tutoring for almost 7 years and have loved every moment when my students make that final connection! My lesson plans are supplemented with 3rd party websites such as Khan Academy, worksheets on the internet or self-made, however, I try to keep it as close as their curriculum so there's fluidity. My sessions are not very concrete, but more supplemental and adaptable to your child's needs rather than a set list of "courses".
