About Evan
10 years ago I began tutoring my peers at Culver City High School (I was a sophomore). Over the last decade I’ve developed an exceptional ability to figure out exactly how students think, and reframe concepts to fit their perspective. I now hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, but I’m continuing my true passion of tutoring.
In 2017 I began training under Culver City’s Director of Secondary Education, to be a tutor for freshman on the verge of failing algebra. I became addicted to sharing my intuitive approach to math, and I went on to work at a mathnasium location owned by my highschool math teacher. Eventually I decided to tutor independently, and I enjoy working closely with families to solve their unique challenges.
With more than 10,000 hours of experience, I am an expert in tracking down conceptual misunderstandings and resolving them with ease. I focus on open-ended questions to understand how the student thinks and personalize lessons to fit their baseline. I work to develop every student’s reasoning skills, since my end goal is for your student to swim on their own whether I’m still a coach on the sideline or not.
