About Wendy
Hi! I’m a math professor with 25+ years of experience teaching college students. The best parts of my job: developing interactive lessons, working one-on-one with students to help them succeed.
I believe in the growth mindset. Every student has the ability to grow their skill set and learn deep, rigorous mathematics. I love that actually making errors grows new neural connections. Making mistakes (and learning from them) actually makes you smarter!

I am a firm believer in grit (passion and perseverance) and the growth mindset (the belief that you can get better with effort, practice, and the right support). I bring both of these to every lesson.
Our sessions are about you. I will work with and support you, at whatever level you are at, to develop an understanding of math that you can apply to solve new types of problems.
Learning is complex. Problems can often be approached in different ways. I will help you learn to see math problems through multiple lenses: visually, verbally, numerically, and using function notation. We will learn to use these lenses to support "productive struggle". When faced with a problem, we will explore it by thinking about different approaches using multiple lenses and develop understanding through persistence.
