About Amanda
Hello, my name is Amanda! I have been tutoring standardized test prep (including SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, AP Exams, GED, GRE, GMAT) for the past ten years and have been tutoring subjects such as Algebra I/II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics for the past twelve years. I have worked with students ranging from middle school through college levels, including adult students.
Through my experiences as a private and group instructor, I have developed effective strategies and approaches to work with students at any level. Locally, I work almost exclusively with students at a STEM magnet high school, which has given me excellent experience with all AP courses, as well as an advanced curriculum.
My strength as a tutor comes from my personability, patience, thorough explanations, and ability to meet students where they are. I believe that there are no small or "silly" questions. I build great relationships with each of the students I tutor and enjoy helping them achieve understanding and mastery in their classes.
My specialties include math curricula, science curricula, and standardized testing. I have a high success rate, consistently helping my students gain 300-plus point increases on their SAT Reasoning tests and 5 points on the ACT by teaching the content on these tests and filling in gaps in knowledge, rather than just testing "tricks." This results in higher score gains, better final results, and knowledge that students can take with them to future courses.
I am passionate about what I do and enjoy working with motivated and committed students who want to achieve their academic goals. I can move at your pace, and my first priority is to empower you to reach your goals. Students often tell me that I explain things in a way that "makes it all seem so easy" and that they wish they had met me sooner. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you too!

Each of my lessons are structured around what you need. If you are needing help understanding what you are learning in your math or science course, then I will provide you with guided practice questions and supplemental notes that will help you quickly master the topic. I will spend as much time as you require explaining each and every step (including the “why” behind each step) of how to correctly solve questions.
If you are preparing for a standardized exam, I will go a step further and actually design a customized study plan and approach just for you that suits your timeline and score goals. I will then provide you with a thorough review of all of the content that you will encounter on test day, complete with helpful strategies and “things to remember” to make you a masterful test taker.
Everything about the way that I teach is structured, organized, and intentional. This makes it feel manageable for you to learn what you need to. Most students tell me that “it all feels so easy”, and that they wish they had met me sooner! Throughout the process of working with me, I will help you to actually learn the concepts you need to become the student/test taker you were meant to be!
